TD Jakes’ wife writes a book about how to overcome your setbacks as a young woman

According to Serita Jakes, spouse of T.D. Jakes, senior pastor of the Potter’s House, in Dallas, all girls should realize that they are born into royalty, as far as God is concerned, no matter if they come from affluent families or coal miners daughter’s in West Virginia, as she did.

With this in mind, the first lady has written a book titled “The Princess Within For Teens,” to help young girls understand the importance of their role in society and to live their life as the Lord has designed.

In an interview with the Christian Post, Jakes shares how her poor upbringing and rebellious teenage years have helped her understand how young girls struggle to cope with today’s issues, such as low self esteem, poverty, s*xual abuse and living up to people’s expectations.

Jakes continues that she has been working with the Junior Debutante and Distinctively Debutante Programs at the church as director of women and children’s affairs for over 18 years. She adds that the conversations she’s had with the girls helped her write this book.

Seeing girls at her church from the finest schools in the state sitting beside those who are from inner-city schools, she feels compelled to tell them that they are all royalty in the eyes of God and to help the poorer girls rise above their situations, said Jakes.
