According to Monique, in an essay she had written, director Lee Daniels shed some light on why the actress hasn’t had much luck in Hollywood over the past few years.

What is blackballing? In Hollywood blackballing occurs when other actors and directors decide not to work with you. It could be for many reasons, but it is commonly due to the person being difficult to work with. Did it happen because Mo’ Nique didn’t play their game or was it something else?
