Amid rumors involving legal battles with her husband, as well as rumors that she was actually fired from “the View,” television host Sherri Shepherd appeared to be in good spirits for Wendy Williams’ 50th birthday celebration.
At Williams’ event, Shepherd, 47, told US Weekly that she is excited about the opportunities that leaving “The View” may open for her.
“Excitement is going through my mind because the sky is the limit with possibilities,” she said. “You can’t grow without change. You will stay the same and it will not be good. I’m all about running towards things that you fear. I’m so grateful that Barbara Walters gave me the opportunity for seven years and they’ve prepared me for whatever comes.”
She insisted that she is truly happy about exiting the show in another month.
“I’m very, very excited. My last day is Aug. 7 and I’m giddy. I’ve gotten Barbara Walters’ blessing and I am so joyful. It is time to leave and time to fly and you can’t grow without change so I am not supposed to be at ‘The View’ next year. I am just happy.”
ABC has confirmed that Rosie O’Donnell will be returning to the 17-year-old daytime talk show. O’Donnell was recruited to the show in 2006, but left in 2007 after a tense on-air argument with former co-host Elisabeth Hasselbeck.
Shepherd is not the only cast member who will not be returning for another season. Jenny McCarthy also announced on June 26th that she would be leaving, as reported by LA Times. During an interview with “The Howard Stern Show” last week, McCarthy said that she would still be on the show if she “wanted to stay with Rosie” and “was a Republican.” When asked if she was fired, she responded “yes and no.”
Daily News received news from an unnamed source that ABC is looking for an Asian, Republican woman to fill one of “The View” hosting positions.
