Actor and Hollywood leading man, Will Smith, says that his 17 year marriage to Jada Pinkett-Smith has had ”some stormy days” and ”died” multiple times and he is perfectly okay with that.Talking to UK tabloid, The Sun, the father of three said, “Whatever you have is gonna die and you are gonna have to rebirth something new. You have to be willing to ride the waves. There’s gonna be some flat days and some stormy days, and that has to be OK.”

Jada, who is the mother of his two younger children, 14 year old Willow and 16 year old Jaden, often shares how much she values her marriage and her family. (Will has an older son from a previous marriage). According to Mrs. Smith, she sees Will as so much more than a husband.

She said, much like many newly wed couples, they have many ups and downs to being together.  Here’s what she had to say about her marriage, which really gave a moment of pause to journalists who are always seeking to figure out what’s going on in the couple’s relationship:

”We used to have all these rules, [but] as you go on in your relationship, you just get into a flow. Will, to me, encompasses everything. It’s almost as if calling him ‘my husband’ is too small of a word for what he means in my life… I think I had a very stuck idea of what a husband looks like, what a wife should be…Once I broke all of that, a whole new world opened for me and man, oh, man, I got to see him in all his glory. And so that’s what it’s evolved into. And I’m just ecstatic about it.”

I have become increasing disappointed in your selection of titles for your articles. You don’t have to resort to “trickery” to get your readers to open your newsletters. For example, I would have read the article on Will and Jada because I find them interesting and motivating. My heart sank a bit when I read your title and upon reading the first paragraph, I became angry with the writer. Please, remember that a heart-warming title is just as provocative as a “gossipy” title.

I put your newsletter in the “junk” email and until such time that it becomes compelling journalism, that is where it will remain. I’m looking for positive news in our community. Enough with the interracial, I want to be white, angry black women kind of news. I want to see more about what our celebrities are doing in our communities and their commitments to our children in positive action activities.
