Gambling Granny Leaves Child In Freezing Car So She Can Go Inside Casino

A 56-year-old grandmother has been arrested Saturday after she’d reportedly left her five-year-old granddaughter in a freezing cold car so that she could go inside a New York casino and gamble.

Renee Osby allegedly attempted to bring her granddaughter, Jordan, into Resorts World Casino in New York City with her earlier that day, but she was denied entry when security noticed that she had a child with her.

New York Daily News Reports said that security guards became suspicious of Osby when she returned soon after, without the child. They’d began searching the parking lot only to find a car with the child inside. The car was not heated and the temperature was below freezing, according to NY Daily News.

The guards of the casino contacted the police immediately, who came and arrested Osby on charges that she acted “in a manner [that caused] injury to a child” whom is under 17 years old.

Osby told the police that she was only trying to get back into the casino to cash a check, but there was a source inside who said that she was inside the casino for over an hour and claimed to have saw her playing the slots.

Jordan was returned back home to her mother, who lives with Osby.

Osby was released from jail on Sunday without bail only after a judge noted that she had strong ties with her community and that the child was not injured. Several members of the Osby family who were in attendance on her court date began crying when the Judge said that Osby would not be able to see her granddaughter, even though the child was not hurt in any way.

Osby will be moving in with her brother in Queens, and her daughter and granddaughter will keep her house.

This is one sad story of selfishness and I am so glad that this precious little girl wasn’t hurt.

What do you guys think about this story? Do you think that this grandmother was operating out of selfishness and got what she deserved? Or do you think that she should be able to see her grandchild?

The fact that no harm came to the child was a result of security checking the parking lot, not the grandmother acting in the best interest of the child. The grandmother was determined to gamble even if it meant putting her grandchild at risk. I hate to think what would have happened had security not been alert.

This grandmother has a gambling addiction and as far as I’m concerned, her habit trumped any sense of concern she had for her grandchild. Thankfully, security had the wherewithal and intuition to follow up on their suspicions, otherwise, she’d be looking at a charge for murder.

The law did the right thing until granny gets some help for her gambling addiction. she lost the right to see her grandchild when she placed her needs above those of her grand child.

SHE should have not agreed to watching the child. G-ma knew she was going gambling that day. She may have been given some money for babysitting. A LOT OF WOMEN ARE NOT THAT MOTHERLY/LOVING OR CARING TOWARDS CHILDREN, EVEN THEIR OWN. And for the record many black parents, grandparents, guardians, etc. are neglectful & abusive towards children in our families, communities & culture. AND the super black woman syndrome (I don’t need nobody, etc.) & rolling stone/absent black daddy syndrome (I don’t give a damn about nobody, etc.) is BOTH selfish,as well as, destructive. Sooo it is NOT surprise this happened. BUT, it is about time it is brought to light & discussed. Usually ONLY the daddy’s dirty, wrongful & harmful deeds towards family and children are talked about in the black community. Can we talk about MOTHER DEARIST OR MOTHER ULGLY????

CORRECTION: Can we talk about MOTHER DEARIST OR MOTHER UGLY???? Daddy isn’t the only one doing dirty to children.
