Bobby Brown can’t finish his performance with New Edition, nearly falls out on stage

2013 BET Experience - R. Kelly, New Edition and The JacksonsReported by Liku Zelleke

There was a time when Bobby Brown could rock the stage with his slick moves and perform acrobatics like he was sipping a cool glass of water. First with “New Edition” and even later when he went solo, he made sure that people not only enjoyed his music but also the dancing that came with it.

Well, time has certainly taken its toll on the “My Prerogative” singer. He is getting old and a life spent smoking and drinking will eventually make even the strongest of men slow down, to say the least.

But, in a recent “New Edition” performance Brown just couldn’t cut it – his slowing down was quite obvious. So much so that he had to eventually stop, right in the middle of a song.

The show was in Mississippi and the group was performing “If It Isn’t Love“. Now, for those that aren’t into trivia that song was one of the top hits that would come from “New Edition.”  But times have changed since Brown and his comrades were healthy young men with strong physical attributes.

Don’t Be Cruel” by Bobby Brown, was actually the number one song during the year that “If it isn’t love” came out.  So, had Brown not been such a blockbuster back in the day, New Edition’s song would have been number one.  This had to be sweet redemption for a man who’d been voted out of the group just two years earlier.

Coming back to the show last week, everything started off fine and the group seemed to show their trademark synchronized moves – albeit much slower than they used to be and not as flashy as they were back in the day. B

In the video provided by TMZ, Brown bends over with his hands on his knees and stays there. After he catches his breath, he does an about-turn and simply walks off the stage.

Drugs! Drugs! Drugs! Why even write an article like this? He’s been using cocaine, heroin and weed since he was a teenager! Got Whitney strung out, killed her, what else new?

Whitney killed herself. Have you ever watched or listen to her Mom and Brother’s interview she was using before Bobby. But even so drug use is a choice. One I don’t feel sympathetic too. Who chooses to knowingly kill or cause themselves problems by using drugs. If that’s the choice then there consequences that follow are the actions that are deserved. Yet if a person decides to rehab then it is not our business to judge. Just because we pay entertainer to entertain us, does not mean we should judge them. If that is the case, Public Work Service People should have to be rated after every performance, Teachers should be rated daily, nurses and doctors she never leave the hospital operating room or office unless we make sure they have performance has been critique. No one should leave their job without daily performance ratings because that’s what we do to the entertainment world every day.

Regardless of what shape BB or his fellow entertainers might be in…people still pay to see them. You never know what you will get (perfomance-wise) at concerts. It takes a lot of energy to put on a good performance…and if you don’t perform frequently…you will lose that edge (especially choreographed dancing). Even BB King has been struggling at age 85 (booed at a recent performance). Think you can “cut the mustard?,” get on stage and find out quickly that you can’t. Father Time will catch up…even when one is in the best of health. And that’s the truth…RUTH!!!

Icon, addiction is not a disease. You CHOOSE to drink. You CHOOSE to do drugs. Calling it a disease merely allows those who make these choices to hide from responsibility!

Well said Mr. Bowers. Everyone loves to jump at the opportunity to speak badly of Mr. Brown. We all age on a daily basis and cannot jump to it like we used to. I wish more people thought the same as you.

Brother Emmett Bowers i salute you, why can’t we men and women realize that the choice isn’t ours. Father time determined by our Heavenly Father determines that we grow old and we must put aside old things move on to the mind of acceptance, pass the torch, i’ve had my run all of these references are applicable to Brother Bobby me you and everyone.
