The allegations of domestic violence surrounding Chris Brown and former girlfriend Karrueche Tran have been growing of late. On Thursday, a judge granted model Karrueche Tran a restraining order against singer and ex-boyfriend Chris Brown for the next five years.
According to TMZ, Tran testified in court on Thursday where she told a judge that Brown, 28, demanded she returns diamond rings he had gifted her, to which she refused.
Tran claimed that Brown became aggressive after that. She alleged in court that Brown texted her violent threats like, “I can get my money back, and I’m tired of playing games,” along with, “I promise I will make your life hell.”
In February, court documents obtained by the People state Tran’s allegations that Brown had threatened to kill her, saying he “threatened to kill me over text messages, harassed my friends, and threatened to shoot me.”
Tran added in her declaration that around the second week of February, Brown told a few people that he was going to kill me, alleging that no one else can have her then he’s gonna ‘take her out.”
After a continuous on-and-off-again relationship, Tran and Brown officially split in late 2014. Additionally, Tran alleges that Brown punched her in her stomach twice and pushed her down the stairs several years ago, but no police report was filed during that time.
The alleged incidents would have occurred while Brown was on probation for his assault against his ex-girlfriend Rihanna in 2009. After beating Rihanna on Feb 2009, Brown was charged with making criminal threats and felony assault.
He later pled guilty to the charges and accepted a plea deal of community labor to avoid jail time. Brown finished serving his time for the assault in 2015, taking exactly six years.
Earlier this year, court documents obtained by the PEOPLE reveals Tran’s allegation that Brown threatened to kill her over text messages. “He threatened to harass my friends” and “threatened to shoot me.”
Brown’s attorney, Mark Geragos, cross-examined Karrueche and pressed her on taunting Chris about the rings by saying she had sold them.
Karrueche later explained how she never planned to return the rings because they were hers. Geragos also questioned why Karrueche never reported any of the Brown’s violent behavior to authorities.
