Capt.’s Hard Time Dining’s owner, Josephine Wade, better known on Chicago’s 79th Street as “Mother Wade” has had part of 79th street renamed in her honor.

Wade has been a staple in the Chicago community for 30 years. Many call her the soul food sensation, a trailblazer, pillar, and pioneer.

The honor came just before her 75th birthday. Chicago Mayor Rahm Emanuel, U.S. Rep Bobby Rush and many community-based and faith-based leaders were on hand to witness this momentous occasion.

“I just love what I do and I wouldn’t have it any other way,” Wade said. From the looks of it, the near 75-year-old doesn’t plan to slow down anytime soon.
