Eric Garner’s mother has recently been arrested just this past Tuesday, along with Al Sharpton’s daughter and many others, during a protest outside the Trump Towers.

“In an act of civil disobedience and in the tradition of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr., Eric Garner’s mom and others were arrested tonight … over President Trump’s SCOTUS nominee Neil Gorsuch,” Sharpton’s longtime spokeswoman, Rachel Noerdlinger, explained in a statement.

Ashley, Sharpton’s youngest daughter, was amongst the many people being taken into custody, in addition to the mother of Garner, Gwen Carr. She is the leading director of the National Action Network’s Youth Huddle Group.

Carr’s son, Garner, made national news after he was murdered back in 2014 when he was seen on video being put into a choke hold by a police officer – which ultimately caused him to stop breathing. Moments later he was dead.

She and several other mothers, who have lost their sons in the most recent years to police violence, have publicly spoken on their children’s behalf against President Trump during events in NYC.

Some of the other members of the protest that were arrested were the Rev. Johnnie Green of Mount Neboh Baptist Church in Harlem; Katrina Jefferson, NAN NYC chapter liaison; the Rev. Kevin McCall of NAN; and Patrice Perry, who is a member of NAN as well.

It’s still unclear as to whether they have been charged or not.
