9-Year-Old Boy Passes Out Blessing Bags to Help Empower His Community
BY: NISHA THOMAS
At only 9-years-old, Jahkil Jackson is now using his childhood years to help his own community by taking care of those that are in need.
It all began one day after his aunt had taken him to feed the homeless. That was when Jackson began to feel an overwhelming burden of sadness just to see how the homeless people in his own neighborhood were forced to live.
“They didn’t have items to start or end their day,” say Jackson.
So that was when he and his mother took initiative and began their own non-profit, iAMNaeem.
Mr. Jackson came up with the amazing idea to create “Blessing Bags,” which he’d hand out to the homeless community. The bags are filled with goodies like toothbrushes, socks, soap, deodorant and other personal items for your everyday needs.
He hands out the bags from the back of his godfather’s pickup truck and is also on the ground meeting the homeless people in his community face-to-face while giving away these thoughtful items.
Jackson’s mother says that he has always taken charge with anything that he’s wanted to do, proving to her, himself, as well as the rest of the world, that no matter what age you are you still have the power and ability to be a strong leader.
“In a perfect world, I would buy every homeless person a house,” Jackson says. “But since I can’t do that, I will try to help as much as I can.”
Since beginning his non-profit program, Jackson has distributed more than 2,000 Blessing Bags. His goal for the end of this year is to give away more than 5,000.
You can do it! We’re rooting for you!
Comment your well-wishes for this beautiful boy, his amazing spirit and this awesome deed.
