Girl Bye! Beyoncé Should Not Be Performing at the Grammy’s!!! You Mad? I Don’t Care!

There has been some controversy over some of the things that have transpired in the past week and a half, regarding Beyoncé and her Grammy performance with Common and John Legend on their ‘Selma’ set during the annual award show.

Beyoncé will be set to sing a song that we all may know too well, “Precious Lord, Take My Hand” which was completely slayed and wrapped in a bow by Ledisi.

Ledisi did such an amazing job at this song that fans of Beyoncé are now saying that Bey should not be privileged to perform the song at the Grammy’s… It should be Ledisi.

Ledisi is a Grammy nominated singer and songwriter who was actually in the movie ‘Selma’ and is also the voice that recorded to version of “Precious Lord, Take My Hand” that is on the Selma sound-track.

What do I think? I think it’s all about politics. When you choose a female singer to sing a song, such as the one that was featured on the movie, most people will lean toward Beyoncé. There are other artists out there people!

The Grammy’s seem to love Beyoncé and have penciled her name over Ledisi only because she is Beyoncé. Is she a better singer? Hell no! She can sing but Ledisi can SANG!!!!!!! And I think that talent should win everyone’s heart, over popularity.

Fans on Twitter have made their mark in this oh so complex argument by saying things such as they think that Beyoncé should have handed over the offer to Ledisi (which is the commendable thing to do) and others made it clear that as long as Beyoncé was there… They really didn’t give a crap who sang the song.

It’s clear that the Grammy’s are based on Politics and not good music and great forms of entertainment… But that’s okay, because this year I will not be tuning in… I hope that they make a change to their roster soon… I want Ledisi!

Who do you think should have been chosen for this award show?

I think that both women are talented. Beyoncé is more of an entertainer so I can see where you would think that she can’t sing… But she can dance her booty off…lol… But yeah, I think that Beyoncé is the white peoples choice… That’s why she always gets chosen to do anything that requires a female performer and its just not fair… But I feel exactly what you’re saying

I think Ledisi should have sung the song especially if she is in the movie. Why would you choose someone different to sing the song.

It was very disturbing and disrespectful for that female to perform instead of Ledisi. Her performance was a mockery and contradiction to anything she projects. There is nothing Godly about her lifestyle, nor does her career honor those that paved the way for to even be able to display her ‘talent’ . The Grammy’s are despicable display of the ugliness of the Industry.

Before this incident, I always admired Beyonce for ignoring the media and/or social media but I was never a fan. They’ve claimed she didn’t carry her baby, they’ve criticized her child’s hair, she never addressed the “elevator incident” other than a verse in a song and etc.
After this incident, I really saw her differently. Beyonce went behind Ledisi’s back, asked John Legend if she could sing “Precious Lord” during the “Selma” tribute even though Ledisi was slated to sing. John Legend, who obviously has more ass and hips than balls, didn’t say no to Beyonce. Ledisi, who actually portrayed Mahalia Jackson in “Selma” and sung THE HELL out of “Precious Lord”, was just as shocked as we were to find out Beyonce was singing oppose to her! That’s just MESSY! Beyonce just wanted to sing because she could and that would be another notch under her belt. While Beyonce was being greedy, she was also stealing Ledisi’s shine. I know Ledisi’s range/ability and this would have been an EXCELLENT opportunity for THE MASSES to experience Ledisi.
Remember when I said I admired Beyonce for never responding to the media and social media? Well, I think she felt the heat because she released a dry video explaining why she asked to sing “Precious Lord.” Beyonce said, “My grandparents marched with Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. and my father was one of the first generation of black men who attended an all white school.” Ok….what does that have to do with anything?? Also, when was the last time you’ve heard Beyonce mention her father? All of a sudden you want to honor him? She’s full of s$!+. Does she owe Ledisi an apology, YES. Will it happen, NO. Beyonce, what you did was grimy and selfish…
