Rapper and actress, Nicki Minaj has been letting go off her mystery lately. She has been open and talked about her challenges with regards to her longtime boyfriend Safaree Samuels and how they have gone their separate ways. She has also openly discussed terminating a pregnancy while she was still in high school.

In an interview with Rolling Stone, the often misunderstood rapper discussed the emotional process of abort!ng her baby. Her story will be featured in the latest issue of the magazine which will be on newsstands on January 2.

Minaj attended high school in New York’s well known LaGuardia High School. She shares that her first love was an older guy who she started dating and just like many teenage pregnancies, her pregnancy was unplanned and unexpected. When she fell pregnant with the older guy’s baby, she had a tough decision in front of her.

She says,

“I thought I was going to die. I was a teenager. It was the hardest thing I’d ever gone through.”

After a lot of agonizing, she decided to terminate the pregnancy. After finally making the decision, when talking about it she says “it haunted me all my life.”

Even though she describes the decision as haunting, she still maintain that, at that point in her life, it was the best decision. She adds,

“It’d be contradictory if I said I wasn’t pro-choice. I wasn’t ready. I didn’t have anything to offer a child.”

While she has never spoken about her decision to terminate her pregnancy, the 32 year old has creatively told her story in her lyrics in an earlier mixed-tape track titled “Autobiography”. At the time, she says she didn’t expect that anyone would listen to it. She also raps about the experience again on a track in her latest album, The Pinkprint. The track is called “All Things Go.”
