Mourning Family Finds Complete Stranger in Casket

As a Florida family was grieving for their deceased relative, their problems were compounded by the shock they received when looking inside the casket.

Family members on Friday were astonished to learn that the person inside the casket was awrong body complete stranger, even though the person had been dressed in their deαd relative’s clothes.

“We got here today for her wake, and it’s not her,” said Marvelle Freeman, the deceased woman’s daughter, according to The Daily Mail. “They have somebody in else in all of her belongings.”

The funeral home admitted to the mix-up, which they said was caused by similarities in the names of the two deceased women.

“Two Marys — both of their names are supposedly Mary,” the daughter told the Orlando Sentinel. “It’s still no resemblance whatsoever.”

Relatives of Mary Anderson said they made the heartbreaking discovery about an hour before the viewing at Stevens Brothers Funeral Home in West Palm Beach.

“To take her undergarments and put on somebody else, and then take them off her, and put them back on [my sister] … Come on! Come on!” said Susan Williams, Anderson’s sister. “That’s not right.”

They say they chose the deceased woman’s clothes specifically for her and were shocked to find another deαd woman in their relative’s outfit.

“They … messed up our whole entire memory of our sister, and their mother,” said a sister of Anderson.

The funeral home eventually made things right by bringing Anderson’s body to the wake and exchanging it with the other deceased woman. The viewing began about an hour late but after the mixup was corrected, everything went smoothly.

The funeral home did not respond to requests for further comment from the news media.
