A Dallas woman said several police officers ignored her pleas for help Monday after her ex-boyfriend abducted her children at gunpoint.

Miesha Kilson was speeding down the street trying to escape her on-again-off-again boyfriend, Steven Douglas, on Monday morning. She had asked Douglas to leave her home a couple days earlier, but when he refused, tempers flared, and he began to chase after Kilson and her three children, two of whom he fathered, according to WFAA8 News. Douglas eventually crashed into Kilson’s vehicle, leaving she and her children facing oncoming traffic.

“When I hit the curb, my tire went flat, and I could just hear shots behind me, and my baby said, ‘Mama! He’s shooting!’” Kilson told KDFW News. “And I look back and he had [a gun] up in the air.”

Kilson said her children’s father walked up to her vehicle, grabbed one of the windows, and pulled it out. At that moment, Kilson said she saw something that made her think she was about to be saved. “And I look over, and as I looked up out that passenger window, I swear I saw an angel ‘cause I saw a police car right at my car,” she said.

The officer was law enforcement veteran of 28 years Corporeal Les Richardson. “That man looked up, he said ‘What’s going on?’ right at my window, directly,” said Kilson. She yelled ‘get him’ at the policeman, referring to Douglas. But instead of helping, she said Richardson left the scene.

“Douglas saw the policeman, so he moved the gun,” said Kilson. “The policeman drove off. He drove off. He didn’t come back.”

According to police, Douglas then proceeded to grab their 9-year-old daughter and 1-year-old son out of Kilson’s car and drive to another location, reported WFAA8 News.

Kilson had called the police and told them that an officer had fled the scene. She said she then asked a motorcycle cop for help. “A motorcycle cop said ‘I was right here. I saw everything and I heard all the bullets, but I was writing a ticket,’” said Kilson. A male witness also tried to flag down a police officer to help Kilson, but no one stopped.

Kilson said five police cars passed her, but police say that some of those cars were on their way to an auto repair shop where Douglas had crashed later in the day after a police chase, according to DFW News. A police statement said that when they found Douglas, he pointed his “small caliber pistol at Officer Moreno,” at which point the officer shot and killed Douglas.

The two children Douglas kidnapped were later found safe at their grandmother’s house.

Cpr. Richardson is now on administrative leave while an investigation is completed on why he abandoned Kilson.

Although Kilson feared for her life and said the only reason she is alive is because Douglas ran out of bullets, she reportedly said that her children’s father should not have been shot dead. “I never thought my kids would lose their daddy. Not like that…not so early,” she told WFAA8 News.

And she wonders why the police officer left, finally getting the type of policing the black community has been asking for. “Gun empty, dont shoot”.

She’s alive because he ran out of bullets, but he didn’t deserve to die? Really? So she’s willing to sacrifice her life and leave her children without both parents (he kills her , he goes to jail or kills himself) rather than one? He can’t be a parent from jail. Sounds like a victim of domestic abuse

Exactly Brad! He was shooting a her and her children trying to kill them and she says “loose they daddy so soon”. If he would’ve had it his way they would be mourning the death of her.

If all these women would learn some core values on how to act and what to expect in a man they would get these fools to clean up their lives.

Battered woman’s syndrome. So sorry this happened to this family! I pray God will give her peace, and hope the dad who was killed accepted Jesus as savior before he passed
