A Virginia police officer reportedly shot his own daughter after he mistook her for a burglar, Easton McDonaldthen crαshed his vehicle while driving her to the hospital.

“[A] male subject stated, ‘My daughter’s been shοt and I’m taking her to the hospital,” said Captain Donnie Lang with the Frederick County Sheriff’s Office, according to Your4State.com.

Deputy Easton McDonald of the Loudoun County Sheriff’s Office in Virginia was reportedly getting ready for work when he heard an alarm indicating a break-in at the garage.

McDonald got his gun and fired a shοt at a figure in his garage. He didn’t realize until moments later that the person he’d hit was actually his daughter, who was sneaking in after leaving earlier that morning.

“When he went to go investigate what had set off the alarm, he heard some banging and rustling around in the garage. At that particular point, he obtained a firearm that he had there in the kitchen area,” the website reported.

“Later on, it was determined that the daughter had snuck out hours earlier that morning, and was attempting to sneak back into the home.

“We will confer with the Commonwealth’s Attorney’s office to reference all the facts, and once it is completed, determine how they want us to go further.”

To make matters worse, McDonald attempted to drive his daughter to the hospital but crαshed his car on the way.

The girl was then taken to the hospital by emergency responders who arrived on the scene. She is recovering from a gunshot wound to her torso.
