Cohabitation is an arrangement where two people, who are not legally married, live together in an emotionally intimate relationship. Some people do it because they want to understand the other partner better before committing to marriage. If they find it easy and enjoyable to live with each other, they decide to marry. People who may find it difficult to cope with each other during cohabitation may not get married to each other.

In Genesis 2:22-24, the Bible describes marriage as a commitment between one man and one woman that is sanctioned and blessed by God. Jesus added in Mark 10: 7-9 that marriage is to be permanent, stating: “Therefore a man shall leave his mother and mother and hold fast to his wife, and the two shall become one flesh.
