NYPD Arrests Homeless Mom Who Left Baby at a Train Station

Frankea Dabbs (center)
Reported by Nigel Boys
On Tuesday, New York Police Department has charged Frankea Dabbs, 20, with abandoning a child after she left her 10-month-old baby on the platform of the Columbus Circle train station in New York. The young mother says she fled to New York after the father of her daughter was murdered by masked intruders as she hid under the bed, according to her relatives. Dabbs says she became overwhelmed with caring for her daughter after the deαth of the child’s father.
Dabbs was seen on surveillance camera entering the subway station, pushing a stroller with the baby girl seated inside. Although there are no surveillance cameras on the platform, witnesses said that the woman exited the train when the doors opened at the Columbus Circle station around midday on Monday, pushing the stroller in front of her. However, moments later, as the train prepared to leave, the woman quickly jumped back onto the train leaving the baby girl alone on the platform.
Police also released pictures of the young child who was sitting in the stroller — she wore a red and white top with red leggings and pampers — in hopes that someone would recognize the child and come forward. When no-one came forward, they released pictures of the woman involved.
Luckily for the child, a 33-year-old concerned woman saw the baby alone on the platform and waited for someone to return and claim the baby. However, after waiting for about 20 minutes, she informed MTA officials who took the baby to Transit District 1 Police Station.
After the baby girl was examined at St. Luke’s-Roosevelt Hospital Center and found to be in good condition, excluding the rash on her face and bandages on her hand, she was handed over to NYC’s Administration for Children’s Services awaiting further development or placement.
Dabbs has been previously arrested for possession of marijuana, assaulting an officer, breaking and entering and solicitation for prοstitution. “Stuff is wrong with Frankea’s mind,” her aunt Lawanna Edmonds said. “She walks around with dark shades… She even sleeps in dark shades.”
Karen Rullman, 37, an uptown passenger waiting for the train with her two kids, ages five and one, said that it was really disturbing and terrifying that a mother could do that to her child.
However, Patricia Floro, 44, another passenger who got off the train with her 2-year-old daughter in a stroller was more sympathetic for the unnamed woman. She said that the woman’s actions appeared to be that of a desperate woman, she added, “She must have her reasons for doing that. I mean something else is going on, something deeper that would make her do that.”

I am so sick of that judge not lest you be judged statement being taken out of context. NOBODY is judging, they are simply telling you what happened. To all the Christians out there, please stop hiding behind that statement and tell the truth once in a while. This woman was arrested for possession of a drug and was probably using it as well, she has a record. Stop making excuses for this chick and call it what it is. She had enough sense to run to NYC after the father was killed, who knows what went on there? This is 2014, even people in North Carolina know enough not to abandon a child, they know where there are safe havens for children. She was wearing dark glasses because she didn’t want people to see her eyes when she was high, which was probably a lot. She tried prostitution. This is no saint. Maybe someone responsible will care for this child and hopefully if she is mentally ill she will be sterilized so that she cannot procreate again. This woman was not desperate, she was evil and needs to be held accountable.

I agree with you 100% except the part about North Carolina, (lmao) like we are backwoods or something. Some how some of us will find a way to blame this woman’s behavior on the white man.

No one is condoning her actions but we all can agree she has been through some stuff some of us have not and some of us do feel she should get medical help rather than thrown in jail. Yes she did some bad things but who has not, you are probably lucky you didn’t get caught doing YOUR dirt. Her baby was in good condition so it is not like she was abusing her child. @Tiamtte yes you are judging her because you say “She was wearing dark glasses because she didn’t want people to see her eyes when she was high, which was probably a lot. She tried prostitution.” How do you know, you don’t know, you assuming and forming your own opinion from this article and coming up with your on conclusions why she was wearing sunglasses. This story speaks to a lot of us out here that she needs help, not to be locked away in a prison. How can you call this woman evil? If she was evil she would have thrown her baby over the platform rather than just leave her there, she is hurt and God has touched many of our hearts to see one of his children is in need of conviction from the Holy Spirit rather than condemnation. Hopefully the judge she gets will see fit for her to be given a chance to get better rather than throw her away into the system. Lord we have some people out here who’s hearts are as cold as ice and do not know when you are testing them, testing all your children hearts to see if love, forgiveness, and understanding is in them.
“Matthew 7 King James Version (KJV)
7 Judge not, that ye be not judged.
2 For with what judgment ye judge, ye shall be judged: and with what measure ye mete, it shall be measured to you again.
3 And why beholdest thou the mote that is in thy brother’s eye, but considerest not the beam that is in thine own eye?
4 Or how wilt thou say to thy brother, Let me pull out the mote out of thine eye; and, behold, a beam is in thine own eye?
5 Thou hypocrite, first cast out the beam out of thine own eye; and then shalt thou see clearly to cast out the mote out of thy brother’s eye.
6 Give not that which is holy unto the dogs, neither cast ye your pearls before swine, lest they trample them under their feet, and turn again and rend you.
7 Ask, and it shall be given you; seek, and ye shall find; knock, and it shall be opened unto you:
8 For every one that asketh receiveth; and he that seeketh findeth; and to him that knocketh it shall be opened.
9 Or what man is there of you, whom if his son ask bread, will he give him a stone?
10 Or if he ask a fish, will he give him a serpent?
11 If ye then, being evil, know how to give good gifts unto your children, how much more shall your Father which is in heaven give good things to them that ask him?
12 Therefore all things whatsoever ye would that men should do to you, do ye even so to them: for this is the law and the prophets.”

Yes, were she Caucasian all agencies would be there to get her mental intervention, the family would have been called to take the baby.
The sympathy for the women watching a ‘murder’ keeping her baby quiet to stay alive. Well must there be more said?
The fact still remains, Black women are thought to be ‘unfit, irresponsible, and more within today’s Caucasian mindset. What about the Caucasian women that drowned her kids and lied saying a Black man killed her children. She was deemed mentally impaired, so before making any form of judgement look at the playing field, it is not equal; even more, justice is NOT BLIND, she sees color.
One must try to RESEARCH, READ, then RESPOND.

Yes I agree but you know we have some black people who want to shun other black people like they are all high and mighty and have not done wrong in their life time. The three posters above probably have done some bad things themselves and have the nerve to say they should judge this woman. Who are you to judge, ye sinner.

Tita Im one of the posters above sorry to disappoint you but i never did dirt i was raised by two smart parents who were strict and kep me and my brother in line and if we stepped off the line there would be hell to pay. i didnt do foul sheit to anybody especially a baby. I just got married i dont have kids but my new hubby and me are planning to have a family only two kids 2-3 years from now and you can best believe we wont be leaving our babies alone on crowded subway platforms. That baby was helpless and if the chick didnt help anything couldve happened to her so YOU keep feeling sorry for her triflin mother and Ill feel sorry for the one who needs sympathy….the baby. I notice ppl like you who pull that “they act like they never made mistakes or did something wrong” BS are the ones who themselves did or do foul sheit….some of us aint foul or stupid or do sheit that can hurt a baby now did you leave YOUR baby somewhere or abandon it?? I cant relate to that sheit so NO i dont feel sorry for her she put her child at risk. The chick was irresponsible plus she aint THAT dayum crazy becuz she wasnt too crazy to RUN and HIDE from the police in NC and went runnin to NYC. You tryin to come for me becuz i express my opinion well i have the SAME opinion BEFORE you tried. Next time save your lectures for women who abandon their kids on subway platforms and DONT come for me unless I call for you.

First off good for you for being raised by two smart parents who were strict on you and didn’t put up with your mess. We need more parents like that. And as for you saying I do foul stuff to my babies you are way out of line and you do not know me. Do not let this internet get you messed up. I live in South Florida and if you EVER feel like saying that crap that you wrote to my face, let me know and I will email you where you can find me. Cuz I do not play about stuff like that and your anger definitely is getting the best of you. With that being said I don’t condone this woman’s actions but I, like many others, do feel she does not need to be locked away rather get her the help she needs. With so many stories of parents beating and killing their kids, this story is different. I will save all my “throw’em in jail” mentality for the real abusers out there like the mom who pulled off her son’s genitals or the man who left his baby in the car, or the army man and stepmom who beat his 5 year old daughter to death or the man who threw his baby over a bridge. And I will come for whoever I please and I will not wait for anyone because one thing about me whatever I write on these blog sites best believe I will back it up and I will tell it to your face. Stay on that high horse of yours, life is going to be REAL good to you;)

My brother JUDGED that thugs drugdealers and gangstas werent what a blkman should be and I JUDGED oow teens and wmn and JUDGED that i was better than that and wanted a good future soooo i took my ass to school every day then went to college then got settled in a good job THEN got a job then got married to a good brotha and we’ll have the babies in a couple of years. If they didnt teach us to JUDGE what is good and what aint my brother would be bangin selling drug in prison or dead and i might have a bunch of oow kids and on welfare. Soooo judging is good. The only ones who scoff at judging are the one who did or do a bunch of stupid sheit and theyre being judged that they are not example kids and young adults shouldnt follow. So yeah i judge and thats why my life is good.
