What other way to honor the late Whitney Houston than by creating a movie that displays the significance of the legendary life that she lived?
Houston’s essence must be captured in every aspect of this movie all the way down to the actress that takes on the responsibility to play the leading role of the soul sister herself.
Director of the movie and longtime friend of Houston, Angela Bassett could have chosen any seasoned actress to come in and take over Houston’s character, but she decided to choose a fresh face for the world to see.
YaYa Dacosta Alafia has been performing since the age of 11. She continued perfecting her craft through college. Though she has been in a fair amount of popular music videos and commercials, she is best known for her work done as a contestant on cycle three of America’s Next Top Model.
Alafia was the first runner-up on ANTM in 2003, and though she did not win the entire competition, her career made significant progress shortly thereafter.

The Whitney Houston story is larger than a lifetime tv movie. I do not know the young women but I am sure Ms. Bassett does. I like Monica for the part

The resemblance is perfect. The acting will be something to see and I hope does Whitney Justice. I think it is too soon for a movie as well and hoped that her legacy could have been put into a big motion picture over time.
