What We Can Learn from the HIV-Infected Pastor Found on a Dating Website

The story of Pastor Rodney Carr is not just scary because of what happened, it’s also frightening because of what it means for larger society.  Carr was accused of spreading HIV to women without telling them that he had the disease.  He found out that he had the virus back in 2005, but that hasn’t slowed down his dating life.

The Memphis news station, “3 On Your Side,” dug into the website, BlackPeopleMeet.com, and saw that the pastor was still dating, despite his status. He also had two profiles, one bearing his name, the other with the name “MinterWonderful.”

“He’s not wonderful. He’s a creep. Going around doing what he’s doing. He’s not wonderful at all,” said a woman who says that Carr infected her.

The woman reported the incident to police when she was infected between 2010 and 2011.  When the news station asked the pastor if he was infected, he said that he would rather not answer the question.  He did say that he did not spread the virus.
