Sexy Felon’s Family Angered By Media Attention, Says It’s ‘Ridiculous’

Family members who attended the arraignment of Jeremy Meeks say they are upset by the viral attention and ensuing media interest caused by Meeks’ mugshot being released by police.
CBS Sacramento reported that Meeks was arraigned on eleven felony counts related to guns, gang activity, and violations of probation on Friday.
But Meeks, unlike thousands of others in California arraigned on a daily basis, attracted media interest after his mug shot went viral, mostly on at the urging of admirers who admired his striking, model-like facial features. The police posted his mugshot on its Facebook page.
At his arraignment, Meeks’ friends and family were not amused by the social media attention.
“It’s ridiculous,” said friend Rajanique Davis. “People are making jokes when this is not funny at all.”
Meeks is married with two young sons. His wife didn’t attend his arraignment, CBS reported.
“I wouldn’t be surprised if you don’t see her at all in the cameras, because she’s upset,” said friend Simone Johnson. “She’s furious. Her man is in there and people are taking it as a joke, thinking it’s funny talking about his looks, saying all kinds of crazy things.”
Meeks’ younger brother, Bryan Valera, said the media attention is not helping, as officers have portrayed him as a significant player in the region’s gang scene. He says Meeks has changed from his past mistakes.
“He’s a man who learns from his mistakes,” said Varela. “With his past history, he got out of being incarcerated and put his mind on focus to his family and started doing what he had to do. Living the dream that he always wanted.”
But Meeks’ public defender Sam Behar said the surge of interest isn’t a bad thing.
“It’s better than the attention my clients usually get,” said Behar.
Meeks’ bail was raised to one million dollars. Meeks’ arraignment continues June 27 at 8:30 a.m.

How ignorant do you speak? You would feel different if his gang member shot into a crowd of innocent PPL and shot one of your family members who died as result;I don’t know of any wall street moguls who do that.

It’s amazing how some people think about an opportunity that possibly can open a door for employment for him if he can get pass this trouble time. It seem selfish on the family part to be upset at a career opportunity for someone who my have a hard time securing a job. It’s ok for him to go to jail for something ignorant, but it’s ridiculous at the attention he’s getting on something that’s at least positive. The mental illness in America!!!! It’s real

He’s incarcerated. That is the issue. Use your energy to get some money to pay for the things he can’t now. I’m saddened that another brother is under the weight of this sadistic system. But let’s be real. Would you prefer that we all had an opportunity to decide how we should look before a mugshot is taken? God bless your family, especially his immediate family through this ordeal. Innocent or guilty; it is never easy for one’s family to go through a justice system that is tremendously unfair to our people.

They wouldn’t dare.. there’s such a thing now as background checks.. which has become mandatory with most employment opportunities.. he’s a felon he can’t VOTE or get a job on his own UNLESS he goes thru a STATE program that helps felons find a job and those jobs are physical labour generated of which no one wants..

I don’t think a criminal past would make a difference to any agency that saw potential talent. But he didn’t just start looking like this yesterday. I suppose his good looks never paid off b.c. he was too busy with his thug life or incarcerated. And, I really don’t follow the comment his brother made about him “finall…following his dream”. so, jeremy is being arraigned with a $1M bail not because he was being a model citizen taking care of his family. Just more dumb shyt.

First of all, no reputable agency would hire him, good looks and all to represent their brand, not even the most ghetto products (whatever it may be) When you have to deal with the shareholders no on wants to be associated with that. If modeling was his thing, he was going to be part of that scene a long time ago. But maybe his criminal activities were more lucrative. And to the women out there ogling his mugshot stop being desperate with the “instead of no man, any man mentality” you are the only one who will lose out in the end. There are good regular looking brothers out there who won’t have the police busting down your door in the middle of the night.
