Louis Vuitton is being sued for racial discrimination

The fashion industry is in a buzz after it has been reported that Louis Vuitton (the fashion house) is being sued over racial comments made by one of their former managers at one of their flagship stores.
According to reports, an African employee was in the stock room stocking shoes when one of the supervisors came in shouting, “Black people are slaves who eat dirt off the floor.” In addition to this heinous comment, the sales associate also stated that the manager called President Barack Obama a ‘muppet’ and that “America would be better off with Miss Piggy as its president because Muslim people don’t eat pork.”
The sales associate who witnessed this behavior is Oliver Koffi. The store in which it happened is located in Central London.
Koffi is suing the Louis Vuitton store for racial discrimination and harassment. In speaking about this matter more, Koffi said that his manager often stated that ‘black people are slaves who eat dirt off the floor.’
“He claims his manager’s tone of voice was ‘cold and serious’ as he made the comments during a discussion on the origins of the English language with him and three other members of staff in December last year.”
At the time of this racial statement, Koffi was a contract worker at Louis Vuitton Townhouse at London’s Iconic Selfridges department store. Koffi claims that he recorded the instances in which the derogatory language was used.
When Koffi approached his manager about the comments, the manager is said to have apologized claiming that he was joking.
When the executives of Louis Vuitton became aware of what happened, they immediately took action and terminated the manager. A spokesperson for Louis Vuitton states that the company has a zero-tolerance policy towards harassment of any kind.
