How Does God feel About Obesity in The Church?

Obesity is a huge challenge in the current society, and it continues to be greater with every sunrise. Well the Bible is not clearly categorical on obesity but it does talk about gluttony, which has been highly condemned. In Proverbs 23:20-21, the Bible advises that people should not join those who drink too much wine or gorge themselves in meat, for gluttons and drunkards become poor and drowsiness clothes them in rags. Our God is a good God and always wants the best for us. It is not His desire that we languish in poverty as a result of gluttony.
God needs us to have the right food intake and maintain good health. This is in fact eminent in the story of the Israelites while they were in the wilderness when God provided manner on a daily basis. In Deuteronomy 14, God gave them instructions on what to eat and what not to eat. This was so as to help the Israelites be in good health and avoid the harmful impacts brought about by some food.

Not only is the “Black Church” not speaking against the sin of “Gluttony” is has become celebrated as “Eating Black” in the African-American culture & responsible, high fiber, low fat & calorie eating is scrutinized as “Eating White”
