Father accused of deliberately leaving his son inside a hot car

Cooper Harris was a very happy-go-lucky boy. He had just learned what the color red was and how to pronounce it. He loved trucks and cars and would say goodbye to them whenever he was riding in the car. Unfortunately, Cooper’s young life was cut short after what appeared at first to be a tragic mistake. Now the police are releasing more details about what happened that day and they are floating the idea that Cooper’s father, Justin Ross Harris, left the child in the car on purpose to either inflict serious harm or death.
Cooper was just 22 months old. His father had him strapped into a rear-facing car seat in the back of his Tucson. He stopped to get breakfast at a fast food place and then headed to work at the Home Depot corporate office in Cobb County, Georgia. He went into work around 8:30am and returned to the car on his lunch break. He was seen putting an item into the car and then returning back to the office until 4:15pm. When he came back to the car he found Cooper had died.
He rushed to a plaza nearby and asked for help. He took Cooper out of the car and performed CPR on him and kept repeating “What have I done, what have I done?” The EMS responders felt that something was not right, as the details of the event were very fuzzy. Harris stated that he had forgotten to drop Cooper off at daycare, which was located at the Home Depot office. He had to be restrained after it was clear that Cooper had passed away from hyperthermia. The temperature outside of the car had reached 92 degrees that day.
As police have been investigating the incident, they are finding new clues that this may not have been an accident. Harris’s charges were lowered from first-degree to second-degree child cruelty however. He is still being charged with felony murder at this point. He is being held without bond until his hearing.

I don’t believe a parent will do something that cruel. If it’s not his routine is understandable he would forget. This situation is happening way to often, babysitters should do a well being check to make sure the kids are coming in that day and parents should check with each other to make sure the kids are dropped off.Never be too busy to make sure your kids are safe and okay.
