In March, actress Countess Vaughn who had all but disappeared from TV screens appeared on the medical show, “The Doctors“, to talk about her horrifying experience with lace front wigs.

At the time, she said that she had been using the hair pieces, which need a constant application of wig-glue to stay in place, for five years. Vaughn said that when she realized that she had developed a severe scalp infection she couldn’t accept that her hairstyle could have been the cause of her affliction.

“The red flag was the oozing from my ears, forehead, [and] the whole nape around my head. The puss had a horrible smell and it was painful. I let it go by for six months. What I did not realize, I had a bad reaction to the glue I used to apply the wig. My hair started to fall out,” Vaughn had said at the time.

She said that she was in so much denial that even when her scalp was oozing and she was losing hair from the infection, she ignored it for six months before she finally went to see a dermatologist.

“I went to the dermatologist but he did not let me know the long-term effects of the infection. I have skin discoloration and people assume I have vitiligo. I use makeup to cover up, especially the skin under my eyes. Skin came off of my ears. I draw in my hairline with an eye pencil. I had to go through this to teach my little one, ‘you have to love yourself before anyone else will.

Fans and viewers at the time were shocked and felt the pain that the actress was going through. But, Vaughn has made a complete recovery and she left everyone stunned when she posted new pictures of herself on Instagram.

The pictures show a newly transformed Vaughn on the sets of “Hollywood Divas” which recently joined as a cast.
