Christian Singer Admits He’s Been An Atheist For Years: He lied to sell records

By  |  540 Comments

Could it be possible that there are artists and business owners who take advantage of the Christian audience by lying to them?  What about pastors in the church who don’t truly believe in the word of God and live a double life?  This might be a bigger problem than you think.

A singer just confessed to lying for years about being a Christian so he could sell more records.  What does this say about the Christian community or the numbers of people who are just talking the talk and nothing else?  Read more from Sinclair Grey at AllChristianNews.com, and tell us what you think:

Reported by Dr. Sinclair Grey III

Let’s face it – not everyone who sings Christian music is actually a Christian. When money and fame are placed in front of some people. there’s an occasional sell-out. Why? Because of what money and fame can do. Please note that I am in no way saying that all Christian singers don’t profess Christianity as their religion, but there are some who don’t profess it, live it, and/or practice it.

In the latest news about a Christian singer not professing their Christian faith, singer Tim Lambesis (pictured) who is the lead singer of the San Diego based Christian metalcore band named As I Lay Dying, confessed that he’s an atheist.

According to several interviews with the Associated Press, Lambesis said he became an atheist in college while finishing his degree. So you may be asking “Why did he continue singing Christian songs?” The answer is simple – so that money can keep coming in. If he would have confessed being an atheist, sales would have dropped which undoubtedly would have affected his income.

You don’t have to be a Christian to sing Christian songs. You need only be a singer.

I listen to lots of Christmas religious songs by famous “singers” who may or may not be Christians.

What’s the big deal? Religious people make up 96% of the prison population. Religion didn’t make them anymore Christian. They still killed, raped, stole things and molested kids.

@ Deborah Bee, i’m not condoning what this man had done and what others have and will continue to do. We could have him give back the money, but i’m sure he’s spend most of it. may as well let him keep it, because somehow , he may lose it or he may not. Its all depends upon what GOD allows to happen. but as far as your comment goes as far as the prison population is mostly religious people. all i can say is, if that’s one of the ways GOD uses it to get someone to sit still and hear his voice. so be it… you nor I don’t know what GOD has planned for those people. the BIBLE is filled with them and my GOD still used them for His purpose not yours or mine. its to build His kingdom, not ours, we are just lucky enough and blessed enough to be able to stand outside the door. or be a part of His family. Let us not forget Paul(Saul) and he was the most learned religious person of his time. Can’t forget Moses(who killed a man, he’s still a murderer by today’s standards) How about David a murderer and adulterer too. and some country u still get stoned for that. and I can’t forget Chuck Colson. My pastor has done 2 state bids and I one and i know GOD has shown me alot of things, if i were not rescued, not arrested. I would still be in the street doing my illegal activities and harming and abusing women. In the end, it don’t matter what anyone thinks of myself, or that young man. because just like the song goes, ” He saw the best in me(him) while everyone else around seen the worse in me(him)” GOD knows what He’s doing. this is nothing new, they was doing it doing and before JESUS’ time and will continue. people are going to look for the worse in all religions, you just have to make sure you walk the walk that will make them think otherwise. and you may not change their mind. but when you time is up, atleast no one can say you didn’t try to attempt and do walk the walk of being a godly Christian that the CHRIST meant for you to be.
yes its sad to see and hear things like that, but all i can do is pray for him and know that GOD will show him a better way and it don’t matter what we believe. We just have to wait for him to change his ways. and instead of throwing him under the bus like the rest of the world does, let’s take him in and rebuke him and pray for him. and if he(his choice and free will; like the devil) continues to do what he does. How many times did JESUS say to forgive…
its not about him being that Christian but about us showing him what a Christ-like life is like, which means LOVE & FORGIVENESS

So what? Rappers start off award acceptance speeches by thinking god. (Thinking god for allowing them to create detrimental music that degrades women, encourages drug use, praises colorism, and values materialism.) This person may have lied but I’m not religions and neither are my friends and we have better morales than folks quoting the bible. Big deal he lied. Real Christians lie all the time. “Blessed and highly favored” but will cuss you out at the drop of a dime.

      June 23, 2014 at 10:43 pm

no Kaye real Christians do not lie, knowing what lying causes. it causes hurt and pain. not only to the other party but to themselves. a real Christian would not do anything that would have them compromise themselves let alone, hurt GOD. we can’t think what we do is okay, because it may save that person’s feelings. Nor can we think we can act or treat GOD
the same way we would treat other human beings. the way we treat each others is the way we treat GOD indirectly. we would be no different than those who put CHRIST on that cross. if you want to lie, than lie, but don’t call yourself or us a Christian or even a Jew. now do it take some new born Christian longer to let go of some sins, than others? Yes it does. But GOD works all of that out for us, along with our help. it don’t happen overnight. it can, but it won’t most of the time, because we have to go through the trials of becoming refined like the best gold never seen on this earth. Now at least he admitted it, that’s a start right there, whether it was the Holy Ghost speaking to him, to convict him or some other reason. it was going to come out sooner or later. I can’t even get mad at things like this no more because i’ve expected it and was told by JESUS to expect it. he’s human and will fall, i put my trust in GOD and if a godly man wants to misuse and abuse that trust and authority, in the end he’ll report to the one. for all we know, he may still get a pass into heaven. His life ain’t over yet. who knows how GOD will use him, but for GODs glory, one way or another. just pray for the young man, so that the enemy doesn’t use and control him anymore. He needs intercession. I don’t hear anyone willing to pray for him. so when ya’ll ready to do that, count me in. because i’m on it already

Can you please put a statement on your site stating no ignorance allowed. There are constantly folks making comments that really are clueless to what they are commenting on. The truth is the love of money will cause folks to do almost anything.

With all due respect Miss Layers, REAL CHRISTIANS don’t practice the lifestyle of lying anymore once they come into the true knowledge of God. The Bible tells us that no person who has truly met Jesus Christ remains the same. Old things have passed away; behold, all things are new! You become a new creature in Christ Jesus when you truly have a divine spiritual encounter with Him. I’m sorry, having good morals is not enough to make it into Heaven, YOU MUST BE BORN AGAIN as Jesus told Nicodemus. There have been plenty of people that did good on this earth but they did in their sin, never seeking God for repentance by the shedding of the Blood of Jesus Christ on the cross! Therefore, when they died, they died a sinner that did good. And when they stood before Christ, they were seen as a sinner….thus, the holding cell of Hell awaits them because of their sinful lifestyle, and failure to repent and seek forgiveness. So any REAL CHRISTIAN is not going to take the chance of being a practicing liar and risk the chance of having their own personal rapture through death and be counted unworthy to make it in to Heaven. Christianity is us patterning ourselves after Jesus Christ…for He is the Divine and Ultimate Role Model. This confession from this singer and the way these false prophets/saints live in today’s time makes it harder for REAL CHRISTIANS to reach the lost for the salvation of their souls! Sure, true Christianity is being challenged and ripped apart by this false religion and doctrine of demons (demonically motivated), but I can’t sit back and not respond to such nonsense when someone may read this article and its responses and be in the valley of decision to either live for Christ or to live in the flesh. I AM SET FOR THE DEFENSE OF THE GOSPEL! Shalom.

As usual not surprised and it seems everybody is lying at some point.
Myself,I never paid no money for some of this music.
It’s okay but at the same time to passive.
In the black communities all across the country black’s need to be listening to wake up music and not passive music or twisted R and B nor twisted self destructive rap music.

Therefore Christian actors can’t play the role of a villian? They’d be without work. He is a “Singer” and he sang.

During Christmas time a whole variety of artist record Christmas song, Holy music and what? They were half naked and gyrating, dropping it like its hot….

It’s a genres …. not all country singers are country… They are singers singing for crying out loud

A persons relationship with God or not is PERSONAL

He was still doing God’s work and look at the people who received the blessings and inspiration from the music he sang..

People confess and don’t confess that Jesus Christ is Lord. The question is; have any of you repented? Are you walking and talking what Jesus Christ has asked of all of us to do? I pray that we all, we all come into the realization of who Jesus is, and why He was born, why He live, why He died, and why He rose again. Let’s leave out the money and consider each of our souls that are more valuable than anything this old world could ever give us. We need more of the word of God in our lives so that we would learn how to live
sanctified. What does it profit a man to gain the whole world and lose his soul? We are so into the tricks of the enemy that we are losing focus on why we’re on the face of this earth. Am I my brothers keeper? YES. If each of us would help save one instead of killing ten, we’d be much better off. And lying comes from the father of lies, the devil. God can’t lie. His word is truth. Try living in it. Try going to church looking for Jesus instead of what everyone else is doing. Who knows, God may have place one of you here on earth to be one of His messengers. God bless each of you. I love you in the name of Jesus.

Who cares? I mean really!! He’s a singer not a preist. People pay him to sing not believe. Remember that fact for future reference. If he had told the truth he wouldnt be in showbusiness.

100% correct. C’mon people=—CHURCH is SHOW BUSINESS! Most people involved in the ‘religious teaching/preaching world’ are all about The Benjamins. When will we wake up and stop believing all of this foolishness?

I thinknthat it’s the same thing as if a preacher preaches and he leading a double life like being married and got.a mistress on the side or sleeping with little boys or raping women in the church. They always talking bout I see you need a car so next week I see you getting a Lexus. I load of bull. Also telling people that you gotta give money to serve God just so they can get your money and live the high life off your money. He just did the same thing.singers and rappers and anyone else lie just to sell records like that nasty Beyonce lying to make money lip syncing. Human beings will lie to make money no matter What the cost is. The devil comes in many forms. He once was an angel remember. I don’t condone his actions but Hey when you’re money hungry anything goes nowadays. Human beings are the biggest fakes in the world.

  14. keith miles

Human beings are the biggest fakes in the world. He is just another one of the millions and millions of fakes in the world. Life for most is built on lies no matter What your job is and that’s all it was to him nothing but a job.

You must have money to survive in this society and as long as it’s legal, why do you care? Imagine all of the businesses which employ philosophies at odds with your own. You might be in constant boycott mode for most products or services. Of course, one should make wise purchases where possible, but how do you really know what’s in a person’s heart?

In any instance, inspiration is like beauty: It’s in the eye of the beholder.

There is some gospel music I enjoy thoroughly, yet I am atheist. If it’s beautiful music, I love it, period

    June 25, 2014 at 8:34 am

I am not familiar with this man’s music so I know I haven’t contributed to his wealth. People do what they do for their own reasons. I am not here to condemn him because it is his decision to believe or not believe in God. Many people come into the house of God and are not true Christians. This is not unusual. I admire him for having the courage to stand up and admit the truth. He must have a conscious of some kind to risk losing all that money so many covet.

Everyone has a relationship with God, whether they acknowledge it or not. God will decide what to do about this. In the end, I say to all real Christians, STAY IN PRAYER AND GO IN PEACE.

Nothing like religion to get ppl all riled up & arguing over somebody’s gift to sing! So what if he’s an atheist? If his music inspired others then he served his purpose as chosen by God! Why y’all so concerned about his soul if he’s not? Mind your business & handle taking care of your own Soul & Spirit b/c the same holy folks on here are the same ones driving the Benz but won’t give a homeless person a dollar to eat!

I once knew a very hateful female minister, and I pointed out that the bible says she shouldn’t be speaking in church because she’s a woman. She said that the bible was written so long ago that some parts of it are no longer valid. Basically, christians only follow the parts of the bible that they agree with.
