The Queen of New York City radio has finally broken her silence.

Angie Martinez or “The Voice of New York” announced earlier this month that she was leaving her radio home of 25 years, Hip-Hop station, Hot 97. Martinez, has interviewed just about every great rapper, producer, and journalist in the music industry.

Martinez starred in VH1 reality show, This Is Hot 97 , which documented the day-to-day dealings of one of the country’s top radio station. “The Angie Martinez Show” was also featured the 2002 romantic comedy, Brown Sugar. Martinez played herself. She has also tested her skill on the other side of the mic. She was featured on the 1997 summer anthem, “Ladies Night” remix featuring Missy Elliot, Left Eye and Lil’ Kim.

Martinez announced her resignation via Instagram June 18 with this picture and caption:

“Today I resigned from HOT97. I am grateful to the Emmis family for my time with the company and the immeasurable way that it has shaped my life. We made history together in so many ways and I will cherish those memories and my friendships forever.
