Woman Upset Over Parking Spot Takes The Life Of Her Neighbor’s Dog

Haniyyah Barnes, 27, of Newark, NJ is facing burglary, theft, and animal cruelty charges after a dispute over a parking space turned deadly when Barnes threw her neighbor’s dog into oncoming traffic. The incident happened in August 2011 but Barnes has just recently admitted that she killed the small dog.
The event happened when Barnes found that her neighbor’s car was blocking her relative in. She broke into the home of the neighbor and had a verbal argument over the parking space. She then took the neighbor’s Shi Tzu, grabbed it by the throat and took off outside. The neighbor chased after her pleading with her not to hurt the dog. Barnes threw the small dog into the road where it was hit and killed by oncoming traffic. A police officer witnessed the entire incident and Barnes was immediately arrested.
Barnes pleaded guilty to all of the charges that she was facing in court. Her sentencing hearing will be held on July 11th. They are recommending that she be sentenced to six years in prison. On top of the prison sentence Barnes would be forced to pay $2,600 in restitution. She will also be banned from owning any animals for up to 10 years. She also will not be allowed to buy an animal or live with one for 10 years. In addition to the sentence and restitution Barnes is going to undergo drug and alcohol counseling as well as anger management classes.
Barnes had stated during her hearing that her family had been given permission to use the neighbor’s driveway which was two doors down from her home. She kicked in the door to the victim’s home and then grabbed the dog when it came at her, trying to protect its owner. The Essex County Assistant Prosecutor, Michele Miller, stated that the punishment definitely fits the crime and that there is not much that is more disturbing than a woman killing another woman’s dog in front of her.

This type of crap makes me mad as hell! She broke in the women’s house and grabbed her dog and then killed the dog? I wish that bitch broke in my house, she would have been thrown in the traffic, crazy fool!
