Since the exponential increase of African Americans going chemical free, it has been proven that black girls can have long hair. For years, we have made so many decisions that can damage our hair, causing slower growth, but there are some things you can do to grow your hair to its fullest potential.

Too Much Product

Do you find yourself packing on a ton of product? Well this could be the cause of slowed hair growth. In order for the hair to grow, it has to be able to push through your follicle, and using too much product can clog it. When it come to African American hair, our follicle is thinner than others and our hair has to work a bit harder to push through, which is actually why our hair is so kinky. If you are a product junkie, you can still pack on the product but make sure hair is cleansed and exfoliated at least twice a month. This will rid the scalp of product build up, giving your tresses full reign to flow down your back.
