Three black women who changed the world with their inventions

blackwomenFor centuries, African Americans have been a huge influence on American culture. Unfortunately, many contributions from African Americans inventors, especially women, have gone unrecognized. But, today we will celebrate three black women that changed the face of the health and beauty industry. Their influence and contribution are used regularly by millions of people, but most people have no idea where their most prized possessions came from. Here are three products that we probably couldn’t live without, and information about the black women who created them.

Lyda Newman-The Hair Brush:

Lyda Newman was a civil right activist, and amazing hair dresser. Born in Ohio, she moved to New York City where she patented an improved version of the hair brush. Newman patented her hairbrush in 1898.

    I already knew black wimen were awesome and did awesome things, but never recognized by others and by their own people most of the times.

    If blacks are so gosh darn inventive, and they created all of western civilization culture, and they built America, and white people owe them for everything they got…then why in the heck did the black man (and female) remonstrate (PLEAD) so vigorously for across-the-the -board integration (early ’60s)? White people be wondering why the black man don’t build his own homes in America? Why black folks like Oprah, Dr. Dre, M. Jordan, Tiger Woods, et al…they all be living in white communities? Blacks need a homeland in America so they can be far removed from ALL the racist white people (almost all white people be racists). Blacks can then save the world. I long for the day blacks get their homeland in America…and AWAY THEY GO…
