In a survey that involved more than 5,000 cheating men, it has been found that 78 percent of the subjects were philandering while they were still involved in their first marriage. Out of those men, the survey found that 82 percent began cheating after they had had children.

The survey was conducted by Victoria Milan on a dating site for married and attached people. It dug into more details by asking the subjects what it was about having children that made it so hard for them to remain faithful to their spouses.

The answers were:

–        30 percent of the men said that sex with their spouses stopped being passionate after a baby was born.

–        23 percent said that they had problems in bed as a result of interruptions from their children during the night when, for example, they cried, were sick or had nightmares.

–        18 percent of them stated that their spouses focused all of their attention on their children.

–        15 percent of the men said that economic problems were the source of their marital problems.

–        14 percent indicated that other family issues were the cause of their marital woes.

Of all the 5,000 cheating men, only 22 percent were remarried and according to Sigurd Vedal, CEO of Victoria Milan, this is because “generally, second relationships, whether they be marriages or other committed relationships, are usually stronger because past experience has served both to correct behaviors and provide a more mature attitude towards relationships. It is also more common for problems arising from parenthood to arise in the first relationship; this is a function of both age and experience.”

Although children bring joy and happiness to a family, the survey shows that they do bring some stress with them. This also shows that couples need to make sure they don’t lose sight of their path together by being distracted by the little ones – no matter how adorable they may be.

Ending up in divorce proceedings has never truly helped anyone one.
