Sherri Shepherd breaks down when defending her motherhood abilities

It does not take a rocket scientist or scientific study to know that many mothers are torn between the emotional responsibility of raising children and the financial responsibility of earning money to take care of their children.  Sherri Shepherd clearly understands and struggles with this dilemma.  The Daily Mail recently reported on a discussion Shepherd had with her fellow co-hosts on The View about this very topic.

Shepherd is currently embroiled in a divorce from husband Lamar Sally, whom she has an unborn child with, and her ex-husband Jeffrey Tarpley, who recently filed for emergency custody of the couple’s nine-year-old son.  Tarpley is alleging that Shepherd has neglected their son’s care on both a mental and an emotional level and specifically cites her work schedule as the main reason for the neglect.  Shepherd is alleging that Tarpley is an absentee father.

As for her unborn child, Shepherd did not specifically mention wanting custody in her divorce filing, but she did ask that the prenuptial agreement be enforced, and many are assuming that this would mean that she would retain full physical custody of the child.  The child is being carried by a surrogate and is due July 28th.

On Monday’s episode of the view, Shepherd did not directly address the allegations, but she did talk about how she has had to explain to her son that she works to be able to pay bills and take care of him.  Wendy Williams also defended Shepherd on the show stating, “I think it’s terrible that these two guys have gotten together and they’re trying to bury Sherri. He (Tarpley) says that her schedule is too busy and that she is neglecting their son Jeffrey and leaving him with unskilled nannies.  Well, somebody’s got to work.”
