“Rambo Grandma” took on two robbers in a gunfight…and won

Reported By Liku Zelleke

Two would-be robbers had no idea what they were taking on when they confronted Paris Ainsworth, 51, in the driveway of her Detroit home.

The grandmother said that she had just returned home from a double shift, and was about to get out of her parked car, when she saw two men approaching her. She slipped her handgun into her pocket and got out of the car.

One of the men shot her four times – three bullets hit her in the side and one hit her hand.

“He said, ‘Don’t pull it,’ and he shot me immediately,” Ainsworth said.

That is when she made her move, one that earned her the name “Rambo Grandma“.

“I said, ‘You mother-f,’ and pulled out my gun and started shooting. One, he was right in the middle of the street. The other one was right here on the side of the street,” she said.

The attackers took off running leaving Ainsworth bleeding. She waited on a neighbor’s porch for the EMS to arrive while she “kept applying pressure to my side and where the blood was coming from.”

The EMS rushed her to Sinai-Grace Hospital, the same hospital where her would-be robbers had went to seek treatment for their wounds (one had been shot in both legs) and were arrested.

In a statement, Detroit police said, “The victim told officers that she fired her handgun at the suspects when they attempted to rob her and did not know if the shots took effect. While at the scene, another police run was called in from the hospital stating that a male was shot. The officers went to the hospital and the male that was shot matched the description given by the victim.”

Ainsworth, a grandmother of four, was a victim of a mugging about two years ago when her attacker hit her with a gun. That incident, she says, is what led her to the decision to get a permit and a gun of her own.

“I thank God that I’m here with my family. It was horrible. I never want to see anything like that again,” she said about the latest incident.

You never know when the good guys are packing do you?Detroit and Chicago are just getting too rough to live in anymore. The bad guys are forcing most law abiding people to have to act against their basic nature. This lady was already tired and had to face these fools upon arriving home.Talking about a bad day! I hope she get better soon.

That is why we all should get a PERMIT to carry a weapon to protect ourselves. make sure we do it the right way. It’s not a good thing to take someone’s life, but if it is to protect yourself and your loved ones, so be it. I believe there are STILL good people out there, but evil is still just around the corner. I started out by going to the gun range with a friend who has a license to carry. He taught me how to use it; and where to keep it safe but near in my home. If someone attempts to break into my home, they WILL be shot. She had no choice but to defend herself.

The sad thing about this story is they should have been protecting her, instead they came there to harm her.

I often wrestle with getting a gun especially since my nephew and so many other sons/daughters of friends have been murdered. But its stuff like this that makes me rethink my position. I was trained to use a gun when I was fourteen so I know the rules. Stories like these make me want to change my mind!

Go on with your bad self Mrs. Ainsworth. I ain’t mad at you. I have been there and done that. I called the police and they stood on my lawn and talked. I shot my intruder and he took off. To date I have not heard anything from the worthless pig department.

    Good for her.

All that is missing from this article are their mothers, aunties and grandmas yelling what a “good boy” he really is.

“DeAndrae, and Trevandre both sing in the same young adult choir!

That is of course when they aren’t trying to rob folks in their grandma’s age in her driveway.

Hope the court throws the book at them.

This is the accumulated result of “No judging” and “No snitching”.

Kids have grown up in the past 20-30 years believing that whatever is it is THEY WANT TO DO IS OKAY because THEY are unique, (just look at their fancy name)

Societal rules don’t apply to THEM.

Most likely with no father in the home their INDULGENT FEMALE RELATIVES cannot raise them into responsible respectable MEN.

So we have a overload of them in prison and a early grave.

Just watch The First 48. The show is filled with young AA males mostly fathers with 2 or 3 kids. Most are rarely innocent bystanders. No, they are immersed in crime.
At the end of the show, their mothers (typically no daddy on camera)cry and exalt them to saint hood.

No mention of “he should not have been carrying a gun, selling drugs, robbing etc..,etc…

Why are so many 18 or 19 year boys already fathers?
    Why ar so many criminals?

Not your typical grandma. May be time for her to GOOD ~ Get Out of Detroit! A third time…& she might not be so lucky to survive. Let’s hope there are no more attacks on this woman. Be well soon.

Animals will defend themselves and their territory from predators. Some animals will kill in order to feed themselves and their young. These two “low life” individuals are way beneath animals. They were predators who did not get a fatal dose of “hot lead.” They shouldn’t be in jail…they should be under the jail. Any man who robs a woman will probably go on to do the unthinkable. There is very little compassion and respect for human life. When a man takes on the perception, “I don’t have to work because I will take what you worked so hard for whenever I get ready,” trouble will ensue. Bring back the stockades and public hangings and introduce castration as a consequence (not an option). Most crime would stop immediately.
