Two girls who had been kidnapped by Boko Haram in Nigeria have been rescued.  A 15-year-old boy named Baba Goni found the two girls tied to a tree in a clearing.  It is reported that they were scratched and bleeding with their school uniforms ripped and dirty.  Their wrists were tied with rope, and it appears as though they had been left to die in the overwhelming tropical heat and humidity.  Goni reported that the girls were barely conscious when he found them.  The teen was leading a vigilante team who was searching for the kidnapped Nigerian school girls.

Upon cutting the girls free, Goni and his friends took them to security police in Damboa.  He says the girls held each other and cried, not wanting to talk to any men.  Although Goni had never witnessed firsthand the aftermath of rαpe and torture, he had experienced the viοlence of Boko Haram when his uncle was killed in front of him.  He also had spent two years in the Boko Haram camp in the Sambisa Forest of which he provides few details other than to say that he had to do whatever he was ordered to do, including fetching water and firewood and cleaning weapons.  During his time there, he says that he witnessed many boys being kidnapped but never any girls.

Goni reports that in the initial days after the kidnapping, his conversation with villagers in the area where the school is located, revealed that four girls had been shot for not being cooperative.  Goni also reports how terrified the villagers were even after Boko Haram, the terrorist group responsible for the kidnappings, had left.  He reports that they were scared to come out of their homes and just kept pointing in the direction the group had left.  Villagers continue searching for the kidnapped girls with little progress, and even with international support, it seems little has been accomplished in finding the girls so that they can be returned to their families.

Bravo to the young brother for rescuing, comforting and getting the two girls to safety. I can only imagine their nightmare. This also makes me stop and think of the horrors endured by millions of African women, men and children who were abducted, raped, tortured, stolen away from their families and villages from the beginning of the European/American whole sale kidnap and enslavement of African people.

WOW! What a brave and caring soul! One person, a child did this, while others who give the impression that they have the power do nothing but talk and fake like they are searching for those girls. Imagine, one did what hundreds would not do. BRAVE YOUNG BOY THANK YOU SO…MUCH! GOD I thank you for this boy bless him tremendously. Where is the media!!!
