Hollywood Domestic disputes: Are we being too hard on our men?

Domestic violence comes in many forms; it can be emotional or physical, and it can be against a man or a woman. The point is, it can happen to anyone. Even some of the richest, most famous and most powerful people in the world. Recently, several celebrities have been in the news for domestic violence allegations.

Singer The-Dream was involved in a situation where his ex-girlfriend accused him of punching her while pregnant. A restraining order was filed by girlfriend of rapper Kevin McCall less than 6 months after the birth of their daughter Marley, and the ongoing drama with Columbus Short scandal.

But it seems that black male celebrities cannot recover from these stories and labels they are given. A perfect example of this is singer Chris Brown. While his talent is undeniably brilliant, the career of Brown has not been the same since his incident with singer Rihanna. However, white male celebrities with a history of domestic violence such as Sean Penn and Robert Downey Jr. still are considered A-list celebrities and very rarely do we hear of their pasts.  Are we being too hard on our black men?
