The April 14th kidnappings of the Nigerian schoolgirls from an all-girls school has shocked the world.  Close to 300 young girls between the ages of 15-18 are being held against their will by a Nigerian Islamic terror group named Boko Haram, which translates to “Western education is sinful.” One young lady, who escaped the terror, solidified everyone’s worst fears about the plight of the young women who are being held when she spoke of the horror she endured.

The Daily Mirror reports the following: “One girl who recently escaped following an earlier kidnapping said she was prized as a terror leader’s wife because she had been a virgin. She said young female captives were rαped up to 15 times a day, forced to convert to Islam and had their throats cut if they refused.”

According to various reports circulating around the media, Boko Haram’s leader Abubakar Shekau was seen on video vowing to continue to kidnap the daughters of Christians.  His mission is to force them to convert to Islam and also sell them into slavery.

Shekau reportedly said on video, “I abducted your girls. By Allah, I will sell them in the marketplace.

Others think that the abduction of the young women has little to do with Islam conversion and more to do with making the girls into sëx slaves.

Mma Odi, the executive director of the Nigerian charity Boabab Women’s Human Rights, said “It is a very bad situation for those girls.  The men went to the school for no other reason than to make them their sëx objects. The men will have reduced them to sëx slaves, rαping them over and over again.  And any girl who tries to resist will be shοt by them. They have no conscience.”

Many are outraged that the Nigerian government is slow to act on this situation.  Recent reports state that they are asking the United States for assistance in bringing these young girls home.
