American actor/eye candy Mekhi Phifer has reportedly filed bankruptcy after racking up approximately $1.2 million in back taxes, $50,000 in attorney fees, and $4,500 in back child support, according to TMZ. The actor, who is best known for his roles as Dr. Greg Pratt on NBC’s “ER” and his co-starring role on Eminem’s film titled 8 Mile, appears to be struggling to stay afloat. Legal documents obtained by TMZ show that the actor’s monthly expenses are approximately $4,100 more than the $7,500 he’s bringing in.

The 39-year-old twice married, father of two is a Harlem native is reportedly the owner of six Athlete’s Foot athletic shoe store franchises in California.

In 2011, the actor launched a business named Third Reel Films, which was created to provide an environment for filmmakers to showcase their work to entertainment representatives, acquisition executives, and other key industry professionals; however, the business seems to have dissolved, as there doesn’t appear to be a website and/or any other information linked to it.
