Alicia Keys signs a major new contract

She is a star. She has a powerful voice that strikes deep. She is beautiful. She is the new face of Givenchy. She is Alicia Keys.

The news was announced by the French label on Wednesday. According to WWD, the Grammy Award winner, singer and songwriter will begin appearing in ads for the label sometime around September of this year. The Givenchy fragrance that she will be promoting has not yet been revealed.

“I’m honored to introduce the world to the newest scent by Givenchy,” Keys said, and added that “Givenchy has long been one of the world’s most iconic luxury fashion houses, and a personal favorite of mine.”

This is the first time that Keys has ventured into the beauty products industry. Apart from her musical work, she has only been involved with fashion, particularly her collection of signature shoes for the Reebok Classic line.

After the news was made public, Keys went to Twitter and tweeted:

So proud to be part of the @ParfumsGivenchy family! Much love & Divine engery! Love forever, Alicia.

Now, Keys will be joining a lineup that has had the name of elites associated with it: Liv Tyler, Justin Timberlake, Uma Thurman and Amanda Seyfried.

Keys was the best-selling new artist and best-selling R&B artist of 2001. Her debut album, “Songs in A Minor” sold over 12 million copies around the world. She won five Grammy Awards in 2002, becoming only the second artist ever to win five Grammys in one night. Her second studio album, “The Diary of Alicia Keys” was released in 2003 and sold 8 million copies worldwide. It also earned her another four Grammy Awards in 2005.

Apart from these ventures, Keys is a New York Times best-selling author, an actress, a producer and is currently working on a follow up to her widely successful and popular studio album, “Girl on Fire.”
