8 Things you may not know about Solange Knowles
You know all about the battle royale that took place between Solange and rapper Jay-Z. But there is more to her than just a kick to the stomach. Here are a few things about Solange that you can share with other people when you’re talking about the big fight around the water cooler:
1) Solange released her first studio album in 2003 to modest success
2) In 2004, she married Daniel Smith, giving birth to her son Daniel shortly thereafter and then moving to Idaho.
3) She stays busy behind the scenes, writing music for her sister Beyonce, as well as former Destiny’s Child member Kelly Rowland and Michelle Williams.
4) In 2007, Solange divorced her husband and moved to Los Angeles.
5) Her second album, “Sol-Angel and the Hadley St. Dreams” was released in 2008 to solid critical acclaim. It peaked at number 9 on the Billboard charts.
6) At the age of 15, Solange filled in for Kelly Rowland when she broke her toe backstage during a costume change.
7) For a brief moment, Solange’s father Mathew announced that the younger sister would be joining Destiny’s Child as a fourth member of the group. But this statement was later dispelled by Beyonce as mere speculation.
8) In 2010, Knowles revealed that she suffered a “little bit of a breakdown” while recording her album. “I literally gave up my sanity for a while to do this record. […] We literally were waking up in the morning and just making music all day and all night. […] It just started to wear on me in so many different ways. I started having these crazy panic attacks.”

LOL, I know right. Bey used to them butt whoopings. On the serious side I did see on Solange’s Twitter page that she said Jay hit her sister. So if she was taking up for me after he hit me, I wouldn’t help his butt either. In my mind I would be saying, hit him girl. LOL.
