fitness coverSerena Williams graces the cover of Fitness Magazine and talks about not being seen as someone who “plays nice,” on and off the court. NY Daily News gets the scoop on her interview and has the images of her sporting a red bikini on the beach.

Williams, recognized for being a world famous athlete and tennis player has garnered much criticism over the years because of her “attitude.” Williams states that there is much more to her than what meets the eye. On the court, she agrees that she does have a take no prisoners attitude. Williams explains, “There’s the Serena Williams that everyone knows: She’s crazy… She can’t make a mistake… And she’s angry and just not nice, to be honest. I’m only that person for three hours a day when I’m on the court. The rest of the time I’m just Serena. I’m the class clown.” She goes on to tell Fitness Magazine, “Even for me, it’s shocking to see. But in another way, it’s kind of cool to know that I have everything together on the court, because I don’t really have my life together personally.”  Whatever your opinion, there is no doubt that Williams has made quite a name for herself as a superstar athlete.

As a curvier woman Williams still faces challenges embracing her body. Williams is well aware that by certain standards she does not have the appropriate “body type.” Body image is another area in Williams career where she has been under a microscope. She says, “When I was young I thought I should be built more like an athlete-long and lean-not with a womanly figure.” Now she embraces her curves and body image, aware that for many young women she is a positive role model. Williams interview acknowledges all these aspects of herself which has contributed to her success and longevity.
