Shanesha Taylor is facing up to eight years in prison for child abuse. She went to a job interview and left her two children in a hot car with the windows barely cracked for 45 minutes. She said that she was homeless and had no one to watch them but needed to get a job. Many have come to her aide by donating almost $100,000 and signing a petition on Change.org to have her freed, but the judge has said that since the online petition could just be a list of names of people who don’t even know the circumstances of the case, it could not be taken into consideration.

The details of the case have been very confusing and her family members are not helping the matter. Taylor had claimed that she was staying with her mother off and on for the last couple of years. She also claimed that she and the kids spent the night in their car in the parking lot of Walmart the night before her interview. Attorney Bill Montgomery is not buying her story because so many details of her past do not add up. Records show that she has a part-time job as an office aide. She left her children in the car for a job interview at an insurance company and police estimated that the car reached a temperature of almost 103 degrees inside.

The state government does not seem to notice the plight of not only Taylor but others like her without homes or places for their children to go while they are working. It was reported that the Senate and the House rejected a bill that would create places for children to go while their parents work so that they would be safe. Before they stopped these plans there were over 6,000 children on the waiting list.

Taylor’s lawyer is still seeking ways to get her charges dropped.

Let he who is w/o sin cast the first stone. Some folk in this case are going to have to answer to a higher calling whether the believe it or not. Ever wonder why justice wears a “blindfold?

I say give her the 8 years and let her do every day of it. Who leaves a tiny tot and a 6 month old baby alone in a car?? WHO??? The children are much better without her. Those tears are because she was caught. No sympathy here.

Now, all of a sudden, her so called “family” is taking care of her. Where was this family on March 21st??

Throw this poor excuse in jail and throw away the effin key!!!

Corbin … you are a dog and all dog’s that say and do dog-gist s**t will too have your turn! Now, take your dog a*s somewhere and help someone in your family … and shut the fock up…!

This judge needs a reality check. They tell us to pick ourselves by the boot straps to be less dependent on government handouts and this is the outcome? Does this judge know what it is like to struggle? Live with hard times and dilemma’s? I can’t stand em’ Cant stand em’ This judge will burn harsh in the bottom less pits of h**l if It be up to me!

I hope she uses the money to purchase a home free and clear, still work and give your kids a good example after the hardship you faced. Walk a half mile in her shoes before criticizing.

It’s a sad state of affairs when judge ignores mitigating factors and seeks to be punitive. Punishment without mercy is not justice. We should make the judge pay for the social services bill that will result from this shortsighted sentence. Meanwhile the heir of the dupont fortune gets no jail time for raping his baby daughter. Only in America.

This judge could better utilize this lady’s time and her children by helping her find a job. After all, it is not as though she went shopping, drinking, etc., she was trying to better herself the only way she knew how! Was she wrong, yes she was, but unless you have been down and out without anyone to turn to, there is no way the high and mighty judge can understand this lady’s situation. Empathy is out the door these days. If she must pay, allow her to do community services while the Social Service Department helps her find employment and a suitable babysitter for her children. Here is a woman that wants to work rather than do welfare!

All you heartless people will have your reward. It’s about to get ugly for the so-called justice system. Had she been a white woman, guarantee the outcome would be completely different. Don’t even come with that is not a race thing. Obviously it is. They don’t want to help us let alone help ourselves. That’s their design. For us to fail,no matter what. They hate when we break free and become successful despite their efforts to hold us down. Oh ye wicked nation, U.S.

  9. I’m Torn with this one. Yes! she was wrong, wrong, and super wrong for leaving her Toddlers in a steaming hot Vehicle. There is alway’s “someone” in your family to watch the kiddies, even if you’ve got to pay them. Grab a (Responsible) Teenage cousin and explain to them your situation. Any person with a Heart that Loves you would Totally understand. It Boils down to NO Excuse Really. Maybe she should spend a couple months in the slammer for a Reality Check! I applaud her for trying to Better herself with finding Employment However, don’t subject your Children to dehydration, or place them in harms way EVER!!!!!

Caryn …. I applaud your effort of trying to explain what she could have done specifically the part about “Grab a (Responsible) Teenage cousin and explain to them your situation”….that’s the problem she most likely had ran out of hardship pleading stories to her family; they could have already helped her time and time again and she could NOT pay them. How can you pay someone to take care of your children while you go look for a job or to an interview …WHEN YOU DON’T HAVE ANY MONEY !!! ??? So, she did what she had to do to try and help herself and her children. Even a gallon of gas is expensive ($3.85 a gallon) if you DO NOT HAVE A DIME !!! Now do you get it ?

First of all, the children should not have been left in the car AT ALL, they could have died. To the people that are talking so much, some of us work in this field and see this everyday. People condemn humans for leaving animals in hot cars. I’m not saying she should go to prison, probation would be the better choice but if any of you can remember a few white people have been arrested and convicted, we can’t always play the race card.

    what do you expect?

    she’s black!

  12. I for one think this is totally wrong. How is it that a woman high on crack cocaine leaves her baby on top of a car an drives off with the child still on to an only get probation. Man in Texas kills four peoples gets rehab which the state tax payer have to pick up the tab. Something is terrible wrong in this society. When they say justice for all it don’t mean the same thing if you have money and white yes you can get justice because they turn a blind eye to everything except their cut. I’ve gotta stop reading this because I get so mad at how many live was lost for our fight for freedom only to see this. This is not what Dr. King was gave his life up for. Something gotta change.
