On Thursday, April 10, Orland, CA was stunned by the news of a fatal car accident that claimed 10 lives on the 5 Freeway.

According to reports, a FedEx truck crossed the median and slammed into a charter bus. The charter bus, which was carrying high school students who were touring Humboldt State University, became engulfed in flames. The cause of the crash is still under investigation at this time, as witnesses claim that the FedEx truck was on fire before colliding with the charter bus.  Among the deceased are the driver of the FedEx truck, the driver of the charter bus, five students, and three chaperones. Many of the students that died in the crash were going to be the first in their families to attend college.

Two of the three chaperones who died in the crash were newly engaged couple Michael Myvett and Mattison Haywood. Myvett had just proposed to Haywood in Paris, France last December. They were both very loved by everyone around them. The proposal was a pure shock to Haywood. Their friends are remembering them now with a photo of Myvett down on one knee in front of the Louvre Pyramid.
