As NeNe Leakes prepares for her premier on “Dancing With the Stars” she contends that her exotic dancing past is going to give her an advantage.

The lineup that she will have to outperform includes the Olympic ice skaters Charlie White and Meryl Davis, former child stars from The Wonder Years and Full House, a double amputee snowboarding champ, a pro hockey player, Drew Carey and Diana Nyad, who is a distance swimmer.

The Real Housewives of Atlanta star stated that her time dancing as a stripper in her 20s is not constituted as dance experience. “Not a whole lot of dancing there,’ she continues laughing, “I think I have a little rhythm.”

On the Jimmy Kimmel show she expressed that her experience being an exotic dancer may appeal to the male audience.

“In my twenties I was an exotic…I’m going to bring it,” she said to Jimmy Kimmel. “I plan to win a lot of the men votes!”

Her moves will be alongside her partner, Tony Dovolani who is probably curious to see how her previous experience will add to their success on the show.

Leakes said, “My strategy is to bring a lot of soul and a lot of personality, which I don’t think a lot of those Olympic athlete people have. I want to make sure that I bring energy and pop!”

She has already started her competitive talk and interesting personality twist to the mix of the ABC series. It is interesting to see how her “energy and pop” bring ratings to the show. It has been clear that the show’s audience has been decreasing and the audience viewers are older in age.  Maybe the drama of Leakes and her exotic dance approach will pull the attention of the young adult audience.

The 18th season premiere of “Dancing With the Stars” will begin on Monday, March 24th.
