Harpo Studios in Chicago has been put up for sell by the media mogul Oprah Winfrey. Oprah has apparently decided to move on from the location that started her career and the venue that contributed to her increased popularity. The 3.5 acre campus that is set to sell for $32 million, in approximately 30 days has about 200 workers at that facility.  Oprah has indicated that she will continually occupy the location for at least two years as a tenant.

“We have entered into a purchasing agreement with Sterling Bay for the four-building Harpo Studios campus in Chicago’s West Loop,” Harpo told Crain’s Chicago Business in a statement. “We expect the transaction to be closed in 30 days. The property will be leased back to Harpo for two years and the studio will continue to produce programming for OWN.”

She moved to this location in 1990 to claim her presence for her top a.m. talk show “The Oprah Winfrey Show.” Her dynamic personality presence and ambitious spirit contributed to the success of the city of Chicago and her phenomenal enterprise.

Oprah presence in Chicago has brought amazing changes to the area where Harpo studio is located. She has impacted the economy substantially with the transforming of the area structures to become a retail scene that has restaurants and tourist attractions.

Proving to be a mighty force in the media, her popularity resulted in the Chicago Mayor in 2011 naming the street outside of Harpo Studio as “Oprah Winfrey Way.” Her presence and contribution to the overall Chicago economy was well known and respected.

“I’ve come to believe that each of us has a personal calling that’s as unique as a fingerprint – and that the best way to succeed is to discover what you love and then find a way to offer it to others in the form of service, working hard, and also allowing the energy of the universe to lead you.”
