Tyler Perry’s premier of the box office film “The Single Moms Club” did not make a great impression in the box office this weekend. The film that is starring Nia Long and Amy Smart, came in 5th place over the weekend, bringing in $8.3 million. The film had terrible reviews, which could have contributed to the weak opening.

“This is one of Tyler Perry’s lowest debuts ever, but he cranks out hits every year for almost decade,” said Paul Dergarabedian, senior analyst for Rentrak. . “He’s allowed a couple of missteps every once in a while.”

The family anchored movie “Mr. Peabody & Sherman” came in number 1 over the weekend. The $21.2 million dollar opener of a genius dog that has an adopted son made a major impact over the weekend.

“The family marketplace is giving every other genre a run for its money,” said Dergarabedian. “But the St. Patrick’s Day effect could be at play here, where families had to exercise their options at the theater rather than the pub. That may have paid off for ‘Mr. Peabody.'”

“300: Rise of an Empire,” came in number 2 after dominating the box office last weekend. The warrior drama enthused movie goers to contribute to its $45.1 million opening last weekend and pulling in $19.1 over this weekend.

Aaron Paul’s premier in “Need for Speed” didn’t measure up to the expected no. 1 spot over the weekend. The action pack film arrived in 3rd place in the U.S. earning $19.1 million, but it conquered the box office internationally with a whopping $45.6 million.

The action packed “Nonstop” funneling $10.6 million came in no.4, with the critics saying that the film had no structure in content.

Overall “Single Moms Club” did not make the impact that was intended, but the OWN Network still believe that his film will do well overall. According to the Own Network Spokesperson, they will move forward with the series that will be reflective upon “The Single Moms Club.’ The series is currently set to debut in the fall.
