Virginia Judge Ruled “Same-Sεx Marriage Ban Is Unconstitutional”

Some states are in agreement with same-sεx marriage and have made their voices known at the voting polls.  However in 2006, the voting population in the state of Virginia made their voices heard by popular demand to ban same-sεx marriage.  President Barack Obama supported same-sεx marriage in 2012.

Over the years, public opinion has changed on the issue of same-sεx marriage.  Recently a major shift in the state of Virginia occurred regarding the issue.  A federal judge ruled that Virginia’s stance on same-sεx marriage is unconstitutional.  United States District Judge Arenda L. Wright Allen, decreed:

‘Gay and lesbian individuals share the same capacity as heterosexual individuals to form preserve and celebrate loving, intimate and lasting relationships.” […]  Such relationships are created through the exercise of sacred, personal choices – choices, like the choices made by every other citizen, that must be free from unwarranted government interference.’

The decision was made by moral individuals who want to uphold the rights of all individuals, explained Judge Allen.   She added that the decision in the Loving vs. Virginia case, which made it clear that the ban on same-sεx marriage was not a legitimate cause for the government, was merely a preamble to the recent decision to ban same-sεx marriage in Virginia.

The Lesbian, Gay, Bi-sεxual and Transgender (LGBT) population should be afforded the same rights as heterosexual couples when in comes to how they express their love in holy matrimony, added the judge.

Needless to say, the conservatives of Virginia are furious about the decision to overturn the ban especially since the decision is ‘on the heels’ of the newly elected Attorney Mark Herring’s announcement that he would not be an advocate for the LGBT community.

The recent decision made by Judge Allen merely places same-sεx marriage on hold.  Hopefully everyone will come to a consensus that ‘Virginia is for lovers’.
