Uncle Phil From “Fresh Prince of Bel-Air” Deαd at 65

The staff of Will Smith’s “Fresh Prince of Bel-Air” is having the worst week ever following the deαths of two team members. The body of Jeffrey Ian Pollack, the show’s producer, was found along a walking trail in Hermosa Beach, California on December 23rd. When the emergency crew arrived, he was already deαd.  Last night, one of the show’s primary characters also passed away.

Veteran actor James Avery, who is well known for playing Philip Banks aka Uncle Phil on the popular television show  has passed away today.  He was only 65 years old.

Reports are stating that the actor had recently undergone open heart surgery for an undisclosed illness and developed severe complications from the operation.

Alfonso Ribeiro, who played Avery’s son on the show, confirmed the news via his Twitter account when he publicly tweeted, “The world has lost a truly special man.  I am very saddened to say that James Avery has passed. Even though he played my father on TV, he was a wonderful father figure to me in life.  He will be deeply missed.”

James Avery was born on November 27, 1948 in Atlantic City, New Jersey.  He went on to star in a plethora of films and television sitcoms over the years.  He had also lent his voice in animated cartoons such as Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, playing the voice of “The Shredder.”  In addition to that, he was the voice of James Rhodes in the “Iron Man” series.

When he wasn’t acting, James Avery spent the majority of his time in Longport, New Jersey with his wife Barbara who was there at the hospital at the time of his deαth.
