Two Basketball Wives Set to Get their Own Reality TV Show

"Basketball Wives LA" Season 2 PremiereBy April Taylor

Sisters Gloria Govan Barnes and Laura Govan will be starring in their own new reality television show.  They initially were on Season 1 of Basketball Wives, but Gloria had some issues getting along with many of the women on the show.  Since most of the shows content revolves around the ladies relationships with each other, the animosity between Gloria and her co-stars created a rift.  Shaunie, one of the stars of Basketball Wives, believed that Season 3 of the show required some changes, and it appears as though Gloria not being part of the show was one of them.  According to a recent article on euroweb.com, Gloria had hinted as early as March that she would be leaving the show when the time was right.

The two sisters are hoping that their new reality show will be more family oriented than Basketball Wives.  They intend on featuring content that includes Laura Govan’s four children and is more focused on what it is like to be a family with a member who is a basketball star.  The sisters plan on including their husbands, basketball stars Gilbert Arenas and Matt Barnes.  The two are hoping that Arenas’ status as one of the greatest players to play the game, and Barnes coming off of one of the best seasons of his career will help boost interest in the new reality show.

Gloria compares her hopes for the content of the show to Love & Basketball in the sense that she is hoping to show what it is really like for the women and their families to endure the grind of having their lives revolve around their husbands professional basketball careers.  The sisters and their families appear to have a similar vision for the show, and drama does not appear to be on the list of expected content.  Here’s to hoping they have a successful run with their new reality TV show.
