In YouTube videos recorded by Taleka Patrick in November, she appears to be happy, content and in love. She had recorded a video log of her day, smiling a beautiful smile and sharing the events of her day with someone she seems to care an awful lot about. In her “Surprise! Final video”, also found on YouTube, she has even cooked breakfast for two, stating, “If you were here, this would be your plate”.
That final video is one of the last contacts Ms. Patrick has had with anyone in over a month.
The disappearance of 30-year-old Taleka Patrick has everyone who knows her concerned for her safety. Her sister, Tameka Patrick, in an interview with WOOD Channel 8 news, describes her sister as being “very methodical person who thinks things through…. committed to her work…completely unlike her not to show up” People magazine also carried the story of Patrick’s disappearance, including Patrick’s alleged stalking of Marvin Sapp, the celebrated gospel singer, and Sapp’s obtaining of a restraining order against her. Taleka Patrick’s ex-husband also cited Patrick’s mental illness and paranoia as what led to their divorce in 2012.
Pamela Engel with Business Insider shares that, according to the Kalamazoo Gazette, Patrick disappeared on December 5, when she was last seen trying to get a room at a Radisson Hotel. The Gazette also reported that her purse and cellphone were found at the hospital where she was a doctor in residency.
Tameka Parker shares the pain that the family has endured since Patrick’s absence, explaining there have been a lot of sleepless nights and crying due to this “out of character” behavior. They, above all else, just want their loved one to return home. The family has also created a social media campaign with Facebook and Twitter in an attempt to make sure as many people are aware of the disappearance as possible. Her sister asks for assistance from those in cyberspace:
“We need all eyes looking for Taleka Patrick”
