There are so many people around the world who go missing without so much as a cough, but fortunately for a doctor in Michigan, whose Jamaican-born parents are in total disbelief with regard to her disappearance, the FBI is getting involved.

According to the Jamaica Observer, Dr. Teleka Patrick, also known as Teleka Calderon, 30, has been missing since December 5.  The FBI issued a “Missing Person” poster of her where she was last seen at Borgess Medical Center.

Reportedly, following the completion of Ms. Teleka’s shift, she “unsuccessfully tried to rent a hotel room in downtown Kalamazoo.”  Following that failed attempt, she was then dropped off by the hotel shuttle driver in the Borgess Medical Center parking lot.

Ms. Teleka’s Jamaican-born father, Mattahais Patrick, who is a retired Seventh-day Adventist minister and lives with his wife in Florida, as reported by the Jamaica Observer, commented, “These are some of the mysteries that we don’t understand.”

According to the Patricks, despite hiring a private investigator and sponsoring a number of searches for their daughter in Kalamazoo and Indiana, nothing has turned up.

Ms. Teleka’s Jamaican-born mother, Irene holds on to the memory of her daughter’s sweet personality.  “Teleka is a light, a happy, spirited person, she’s kind and compassionate,” she said.

According to the FBI, Ms. Teleka left some of her belongings, including her cell phone, at work.  They added that later that same evening, Ms. Teleka’s automobile- a light-gold 1997 Lexus ES 300 – was “found abandoned off the roadway in a ditch with a possible flat tire on I-94 (Inter-State Highway), mile … in Porter, Indiana.”

What was left in her car was more disheartening than what she left at work.  According to authorities, clothes, and a wallet containing her driver’s license, credit cards and small amount of cash were found.

“Dr. Patrick failed to report to her regular shift at work the next day.  Dr. Patrick has not been heard from since this time.  If you have any information concerning this person, please contact your local FBI office, or the nearest American Embassy or Consulate,” the poster reads.

Ms. Teleka’s family is confused to say the least with regard to reports claiming she was on her way to Chicago, Illinois the night she went missing.  They point to the fact that she was scheduled to work early the next day.

Videos posted by the missing woman also have authorities.

Police also claim to be baffled by the entire incident.

Indiana State Police Sgt. Rick Strong commented, “We’re just as frustrated as the family.”
