You may not know his name but you have seen Harold Perrineau Jr. in a lot of films over the past decade. Born on August 7, 1963, this Brooklyn, New York native has played a wide range of characters in many popular television shows and movies.  Recently, he revised his role as Julian Murch in the hit film The Best Man Holiday.

Here are five interesting facts about this mysterious actor that just might be of interest to you:

1. He changed his name– Harold Perrineau’s original name was Harold Williams.  He changed his last name to his maternal last name when another Harold Williams was discovered to be a member of SAG.  His parents were never married and Perrineau was once his original name.

2.  He started out as a dancer– Harold Perrineau went to the Shenandoah Conservatory and studied music and theater although he never graduated.  He then went on to perform as a dancer with the Alvin Ailey Company for a year and a half.

3.  Harold Perrineau got acting skills– He was praised for playing the best Mercutio ever in the 1996 film Romeo & Juliet where he wore a glitter miniskirt and platform heels. He is such a diverse actor–he once played a paraplegic in the hit cable television series Oz.

4.  He loves to sing– Harold Perrineau made his musical debut in 2007 when he released his first single “Stay Strong.” Since then he has actively produced and collaborated with other artist on musical projects.  He enjoys performing live with a full band and has made several club appearances in the Los Angeles area.

5.  He’s a family man– Harold is married to model/ actress Brittany Perrineau. She use to model for Tommy Hilfiger and Liz Claiborne in the 90’s.  She is best known for a reoccurring appearance on the television show Lost.  The couple has three children together.
